Church of England Information

Welcome to you all

My name is Reverend Sarah Harrison-Potts and I am the chaplain at Malcolm Arnold Academy.

As a Church Minister for nearly 12 years, and a Chaplain for 4 years, I have had the privilege of working with many different but amazing people and I am delighted to be working with the amazing people at MAA.  I have worked in a church in Coventry, Plymouth and in a young Offenders Prison.  My passion lies in trying to help young people reach their full potential and enter into, and experience, life in all its fullness. In the bible Jesus says ‘I have come so that they may have life, and have it to the full.’ (John 10:10) and this informs my passion.

Education is hugely important to me as I feel that people without it people can often carry huge preconceived ideas especially regarding religion and Faith and it is vital that we all have an understanding of the diverse range of beliefs in society, including secular beliefs, so that we can work together in love and friendship even if we do not share the same beliefs. Friendship, Peace, Forgiveness, Truth and Love are fundamental virtues that I live by and feel that these play a crucial role in binding us all together and enabling us all to "live life to the full".

My experience of the Church is lively, fun and where I see God moving. I often preach or play the drums in church and enjoy sharing my faith with others.  I am a chaplain for those of all faiths and none and open to any questions or discussion people may wish to have. I am a highly visible and accessible presence around the academy at break and lunch times and also encourage people to seek me out through publicised times of availability. For example, on Tuesday lunch times there is a drop in for year 7, as well as a drop in on Thursday lunch times for year 8 and 9, where we can find a reflective space, talk, listen to music and discuss different topics.

Please come and talk with me and if you have any worries or concerns my door is always open.

Every Blessing
