The academy's specialisms of mathematics and music are very important in every part of our students’ curriculum.
We try to help all students to build a life-long passion for and appreciation of music and to use the skills they learn in maths to think logically and creatively about any challenge they face.
As well as encouraging creative composition and confident performance, musical activities we have held at the academy have included:
- Masterclasses and recitals with international concert pianists, Richard Meyrick and Marios Papadopoulos and with the Royal College of Music
- A singing programme with Suzy Digby from the BBC’s Last Choir Standing and The Voices Foundation
- A debate with music industry legends, Nick Mason (Pink Floyd) and Nick Williams (BRIT School)
- Guitar masterclass and Q&A session with legendary Rolling Stones guitarist, Ronnie Wood
In maths, we encourage students to work out how they can use the skills they learn in everyday life. We offer problem solving and analytical services to everyone at the academy and use the latest technology to improve our teaching and to help students learn.
