Rugby Talent Day with Northampton Saints

On Friday 5th February, twelve extremely fortunate students from Malcolm Arnold Academy were privileged to attend an inspirational day of rugby at Franklin’s Gardens, home of the Northampton Saints. The boys were selected to attend based on their outstanding commitment and dedication to co-curricular rugby club.

Students received some quality coaching from top coaches at the Saints, got to ask players some questions, have a tour of the stadium which included visiting both the home and away changing rooms and even got to see a glimpse of the first team in training before they took on the Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership at the weekend, where they won 27-23.

It was fantastic to see our students inspired by the day and it was certainly noticeable how much they enjoyed it. They even got to walk away with their very own goody bag including a t-shirt and a rugby ball! The boys were a credit to the school and showed exceptional behaviour throughout the day.

Mr Sharrock, Head of Rugby at MAA said, “The boys seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day and hopefully it has inspired them to continue developing and enjoying their rugby. We are now in the process of planning a trip to Franklin’s Gardens to watch the Saints live in the Aviva Premiership.”
