A levels: Malcolm Arnold Academy celebrates A* and A grades
Malcolm Arnold Academy has seen an increase in students achieving the very best grades in their A levels this year, with 100% of Maths students securing a prestigious A*. In addition, the school has seen a quarter of Biology and Economics students achieving an A* or A, with further strong performances across other subjects
Nicola Koncarevic, Head of School at Malcolm Arnold Academy, said:“We are thrilled to be celebrating our students’ outstanding results this year, which all of them have worked so hard to achieve.
“We’ve seen impressive results across the sciences, with particularly strong performances within Biology, Applied Science and Sociology. Once again, our students have also performed well in languages, the arts and in Business Studies.
“We are delighted to see our students off to study at top Russell Group universities, as well as start their working careers. We are very proud of their incredible hard work and efforts.”
Among the successful students celebrating was Aryna McMullen, who has secured her place at Keele Universityto studyMedicine. Aryna, who achieved an A* in Maths, two As in Biology and Russian and a C in Music, said: “I have been so nervous the past few weeks waiting for my results, but the wait was worth it! I can’t wait to focus on my new studies in September.”
Fellow student, Eloise Borderick, can also be proud of her success after achieving an A* in Maths an A in Economics, and a B in Religious Studies. Eloise is now planning to study Maths at Birmingham University.
Alima Lima has also assured her dream of studying English Literature at the University if Nottingham after obtaining an A* in English Literature and a B in Sociology. She commented: “I am delighted to secure these results after all of my hard work and dedication to my studies. The hard work has definitely paid off.”
Other top performers were Thomas Cocking and Jesse Connor, who will both go onto their chosen university.
Head boy Thomas, who achieved a Distinction* in Sport, an A in Psychology and a C in Biology, will now study Sports Science at Coventry University. Thomas, who is also a scholar of the school’s football academy, run in partnership with Rushden & Diamonds Football Club, said: “Malcolm Arnold Academy has helped me to achieve the very best set of results for me to pursue my career. I cannot thank my teachers enough for their incredible support.”
Jesse Connor, who achieved a Distinction* in Health and Social Care, a Distinction in Performing Arts and a B in Psychology, will now study Childhood and Youth Studies at the University of Northampton. She commented: “I am so happy! In fact, I am slightly overwhelmed with my results! I am looking forward to starting university in September”
Rowena Hackwood, Chief Executive Officer at the David Ross Education Trust, said: “Our mission is to broaden the horizons of young people through a world-class education. Today marks a new chapter in our students’ lives as they get ready for university. Our students are outstanding young people who are a great credit to their local community and we wish them well.”
