Author Paul Dowswell Visits MAA
Paul Dowswell visits Malcolm Arnold Academy
Students at Malcolm Arnold were visited by Paul Dowswell, author of a range of fiction books for secondary school students including many based around WW1, the most well known of which is ‘Auslander’.
Paul gave a talk to students from Year 7 & 8 about the process of writing a book and in more detail about some of his titles. Ishika Lakhanpal, Year 8, said: ‘Listening to Paul Dowswell talk has made my way of thinking about World War 1 change.’
The creative writing workshop for Year 9 students on "Turning Fact into Fiction" was very well received and many students took the opportunity to get a signed copy of his book over lunchtime.
Gilbert Ressel, Year 7, summed it up by saying: ‘Since I’m a big fan of his work, I enjoyed his visit greatly. It inspired me to write about the World Wars myself.’
